Dec 19, 2025Summary
In this first episode, I share why this podcast exists. Not to explain the Camino, but to support you in listening to your own inner Camino, on the road and long after the walking ends.
Podcast Transcript
Welcome to the Your Inner Camino Podcast, a Self-Reflection Podcast.
The name of this podcast is inspired by a simple observation.
The Camino de Santiago is much more than just a route across Spain. It is also a journey inward.
Each of us walks two caminos.
One on the outside, through towns, through fields, and villages.
And one on the inside, through thoughts, fears, memories, hopes, and questions.
Whether you are a pilgrim walking the Camino right now,
or someone who has walked the Camino de Santiago,
or someone who is preparing to walk,
or one of the many seekers drawn to the wisdom of the Camino,
you are here at the right place.
In this introductory episode, I want to share what this podcast is about, who it is for, and what you can expect.
I am recording this first episode while I am still living in Sweden, preparing to move to a very special place where this podcast will be recorded, on the Camino Francés: the Palacio de Sansol.
The Palacio de Sansol is a very special place. It is a 17th-century palace, lovingly restored and transformed into a beautiful pilgrim albergue.
Pilgrims from all over the world stop here, in the small village of Sansol in Navarra, to rest, to have a home for a night.
Every evening, around seven, we gather around a long table in the dining room.
We share a simple meal.
We share stories from the trail.
And sometimes, without planning it, we share something deeper.
Feel the atmosphere.
Tired pilgrims eating together inside the thick stone walls of the palace.
There is laughter.
There is silence.
There are reflections.
In moments like these, the inner Camino begins to speak.
The physical Camino provides the backdrop, the footsteps, the blisters, the backpacks.
But it is the shared human experience, and the personal insights that arise, that turns a long walk into a pilgrimage.
It is often said that the Camino provides.
That it brings you the experiences or encounters you need, at the right time, in the right way.
Personally, I have encountered many of these moments on my Caminos.
Speaking from my own experience, I have learned that the Camino is not just a beautiful hiking trail. It also reveals your inner truth.
It reveals parts of yourself that may have been overlooked in the rush of everyday life.
In the quiet of an early morning Camino walk, or in an unexpected conversation, clarity can appear. Not as answers, but as recognition.
Many pilgrims describe the Camino as transformative.
Not because of the distance or the landscape, but because of the inner work that naturally unfolds.
This podcast stays close to that inner journey.
It is not about how to get from point A to point B.
And it is not about packing lists or practical advice.
Instead, the Your Inner Camino Podcast explores the insights that arise when you walk with presence.
It is about reflection. It is about noticing what moves inside you while your body moves forward.
As one Camino author once wrote:
“It is the inner journey that transforms a long-distance walk into a pilgrimage.”
The Camino continues long after the walking has ended.
Also known as PCS, the Post Camino Syndrome 😊
This podcast is a place to explore that quietly and honestly.
So, what can you expect in the episodes to come?
Authentic stories.
Meaningful conversations.
Each episode touches different aspects of the inner Camino.
After the daily Your Inner Camino – A Self-Reflection Meeting in the Palacio de Sansol, held before the communal dinner, I invite pilgrims to share their personal stories and insights.
They talk about moments that stayed with them.
Challenges that tested them.
Insights that surprised them.
These stories can be joyful or heavy, simple or just profound.
The Camino has inspired seekers, pilgrims, writers, and thinkers for centuries.
One of the most beautiful lessons of the Camino is this:
Everyone has something to teach us, if we are willing to listen.
Some episodes focus on themes many of us encounter on the Camino and in life.
Uncertainty. Trust. Loneliness. Letting go. Coming home.
We explore questions like:
Who am I when the usual roles fall away?
How do I carry the simplicity of the Camino back into daily life?
Throughout all episodes, the tone remains simple and grounded.
As if we are sitting together on a terrace or along the trail, having a quiet conversation.
There are no teachings here.
No methods to follow.
Just lived experience, shared honestly.
When I speak, I do not speak as an expert.
I speak as a fellow pilgrim.
I hope this podcast becomes a companion for you.
If you have walked the Camino before, let it gently reconnect you with what you discovered there.
If you are walking now, let these episodes walk alongside you for a moment.
And if you have never walked the Camino, you are just as welcome.
The lessons of the Camino are universal.
We are all walking something. A transition. A question. A loss. Or, like me at the moment of this recording, a new beginning.
In that sense, we are all pilgrims.
You might want to listen actively.
Maybe keep a small notebook nearby.
Notice what resonates.
What stirs.
What feels familiar.
This podcast is not meant as background noise.
It is an invitation to pause.
An invitation to reflect.
An invitation to Your Own Inner Camino.
I hope these episodes offer you a small space of reflection in your day.
Before closing this introduction, I want to say thank you. Thank you for listening. Thank you for being here at the start of this journey.
